I am drawn to the world as it blooms.

The way light catches a petal. How a garden reveals herself across seasons. The near-magical relationship between color and emotion. These are the things that move me, and these are the things I paint.

Centering bright, lush florals, my work honors impressionist tradition with contemporary heart, inviting viewers to fall into the sometimes-realistic, sometimes-fantastic scenes of their subjects: shaded gardens and sunlit wildflowers, creatures slipping through shadows, moonlight dancing on stems. These are reflections of my relationship with the natural world. Corners of my own beloved gardens. Memories imprinted by ever-inspiring travels.

I paint primarily with oils, from smooth brush-painting to rich textural compositions featuring impasto technique. Mixed-media works may incorporate offerings from nature: dried strips of tree bark, spores from mushrooms or fern, fallen leaves, gilded sheaths of wheat. Above all, color is my primary tool—is, in fact, my greatest creative joy. I use it boldly, as the direct route between what I feel in the studio and how someone might feel standing in front of a finished painting. And so, at its core, my work is infused with joy.

I hope my paintings carry this joy into the rooms where they live—and into the hearts of those who live with them.
